Happy National Scrapbooking Day! Always so beYOUtiful Scrapbook Layout Inspiration

Happy National Scrapbooking Day everyone!  I got into scrapbooking mode this weekend and create a bright and colorful scrapbook layout that I am excited to share with you!  Here is a sneak peek:

See the full 2 page 12x12 layout after the jump!

A while back, my daughter Natalie wanted to have a photo shoot and got all dressed up one afternoon.  My little model and I had a lot of fun - there were a lot of giggles and silly faces.  When we were all done, I knew that these photos would be the base for a layout someday and today was the day to do something with them!

This layout is full of fun energy and lots of personality- just like Natalie!  My little girl is so silly, you can't help but smile when she's around.

The paper in this lay out comes from the Sunshine and Happiness Kit by Bella Blvd.  This kit has a lot of fun summer paper and had all the bright colors I was looking for for this layout.

I will admit, when I sat down to make this layout, I was not paying attention to the names of the papers.   Everything did come from the kit however, except for the white scallop and journaling paper and the sparkly YOU which is American Crafts glitter cardstock!

I started out with the full 12x12 inch sheets of yellow swiss dot paper for my backgrounds.  I added the stripped layer next, which is cut at 12x9 inches.  I finally layered on the yellow crosshatch paper, which is cut at 10x8.5 inches.  I rounded the edges of the yellow crosshatch paper (and all my photos and mats) with a We R Memory Keepers Corner Cromper - I love this tool, it makes it so easy to round corners, which really makes projects feel more polished.

I added 1/4 inch strips of the green leaf pattern paper to each end of the stripped paper and a fun scalloped border which I made using my Silhouette Cameo (I welded a lot of 1" circles together!).   I made the title for this page using my Cameo as well!

The fun accent flowers were made using my Cricut Expression and the Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge, which reminds me - Mother's day is just 2 weeks away (eek!).  This cartridge has so many fun flower shapes, but you can do so much more than just flowers with it!  It is really a versatile cartridge, check out some other Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge projects we've made here.  One of the flowers on this cartridge was just the shape I needed to match the flower on Natalie's hat in the photo.  I started out by cutting 10 flowers at 2 inches (5 for each of the small flowers) and 7 larger 2.5 inch flowers.

Layer up all the petals for each flower and attach them at the center.  I used my Glue Glider Pro with Permatac cartridge for this whole project (it's my go-to adhesive!).  Once you have your layers all put together, crunch up the petals to distress the flowers a little bit.  I found that folding each layer of the petals over on themselves a little gave the flowers lots of dimension:

For the centers of the flowers, I used a clear bubble cap from Epiphany Crafts.  These bubble caps are so easy to use, they're like little stickers (see a tutorial on how to use bubble caps to make your own fancy boutique style necklaces here).

For my journal tag, I actually used my Spellbinders Heirloom Ornament dies!  I was looking for a fun shape and I think it really worked well:

I also used the dies for the date on the opposite page.  I liked how it kind of mirrored the scalloped border:

I think I still have a long way to go to really get back into scrapbooking, but I feel like this was a step in the right direction...

I really did miss scrapbooking and can't wait to do more layouts.  My kids, like all little kids, are growing up way too fast that I don't want to miss recording these memories!

What do you think?  Not too bad after not having scrapbooked in quite some time, right?   I hope you enjoyed this inspiration!

Hello, I know this is an older post. I am way behind due to "life at the speed of light", but found some time today for catch up browsing and just had to comment. I love your layout! The colors are bright and cheerful, but not overwhelming so the pictures are still the focus of the page - I love that! I also like how you have used very basic elements to make some very pretty embellishments. I'm inspired! Thanks for sharing!
