DIY Halloween Goodie Bags with Cricut / Tic Tac Toe Board Game
It is spooky season and this project is perfect to hand out as goodie bags at a Halloween party, while trick or treating or even to a classroom!
Materials Needed:
- Cricut Machine with print-then-cut capabilities (Maker 3, Explore 3 or Joy Xtra)
- StandardGrip Cricut Cutting Mat
- Cardstock (You can use regular cardstock or use Cricut Sticker Cardstock to make your board have a sticky back)
- Cricut Design Space software
- Ink Jet Printer
- Clear treat bag
- Halloween candies (will be used as your game pieces)
Step 1: Design Your Tic Tac Toe Board in Cricut Design Space
- Open Cricut Design Space and create a new project.
- Find a spooky shape image that you like (we chose a ghost) as the base of your board. Then find (or create) a tic tac toe board.
- Once you have all of your images on your canvas, arrange them to your liking. We ended up putting our board in the middle of our ghost and then adding "Tic Tac Toe" below the ghost. Want our design? Get a free* copy of our design here. (We did use our Cricut Access Membership for these images)
- We are doing print-then-cut, so we want to make sure we flatten our image and change it to "print-then-cut" rather than leaving it at the basic cut. Flattening the image ensures that your machine wont cut each individual line, but rather will view your image as one solid piece.
Step 2: Print Your Design and Have Your Cricut Cut Out Your Board
- Next you will go to "make" your design. If you haven't ever calibrated your machine for print-then-cut, check out this blog for how-to do it.
- Design Space will first have you send your design to your printer to be printed.
- Once your design is printed, place the cardstock on your cutting mat to be cut.
- Hit "go" and let your Cricut machine do the work!
Step 3: Assembling Your Goodie Bags
- Carefully remove your cut boards from your cutting mat. *The Cricut Spatula can help with this.
- Once you have all of your game boards removed, you can start adding them to the goodie bags!
- Add in some Halloween candies to act as your game pieces so you can have an activity and a little treat!
- Use a twist tie to seal your bags and then you are all done!
Now you have a spooky game and treats that are sure to be a hit at your next Halloween gathering!
*Use this idea for any holiday or season by switching out the board images and pieces! This would be great for road trips and Christmas parties as well.
