Give your birthday cards a little extra magic by adding handmade seals or stickers to the envelopes. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big impact and instantly makes your card feel more thoughtful and personal. You can customize the designs with the recipient’s name or tweak them to work for other holidays and celebrations throughout the year. In this project, I’m sharing three different birthday seal ideas you can make with your Cricut, giving you plenty of options to mix, match, and create something truly one of a kind.
All three birthday sticker designs are included in a ready-to-use project in Cricut Design Space, so you can get started right away without having to build anything from scratch. Every design in the project is free with a Cricut Access subscription. If you like to put your own spin on things, you can also use the project as a jumping-off point - swap out fonts, shapes, or details to better match your style or the person you’re making the card for.

To make your sticker using Print Then Cut, start by opening the design in Cricut Design Space and be sure it fits within the Print Then Cut size limits. Print the design onto Cricut Sticker Paper using your home printer, making sure the paper is loaded correctly. Place the printed sheet on a Cricut mat, line it up with the grid, and load it into your machine. Cricut will scan the registration marks and cut out your sticker for you.

For a hand-drawn look, you can make your sticker using Cricut pens. In Design Space, set the design to Draw instead of Cut. Load a Cricut pen into your machine, place sticker paper on a mat, and load it into your Cricut. The machine will draw the design first, then cut around the sticker shape. Once it’s done, peel it off the mat and it’s ready to use.

If you prefer a layered look, create your sticker using vinyl. Start with a two-layer design: a solid base shape for the sticker and a detailed cut layer for the design on top. Cut the base shape from sticker paper or vinyl, then cut the detailed design from Cricut vinyl. Carefully weed the vinyl, use transfer tape to pick it up, and place it on top of the base sticker. Burnish well, remove the transfer tape, and your layered vinyl sticker is complete.

No matter which method you choose, these birthday seals are a fun and easy way to elevate your handmade cards. They’re quick to make, easy to customize, and perfect for using up scraps or trying new Cricut techniques. Once you start making them, you’ll probably find yourself creating seals for every occasion - not just birthdays. 🎉
