“Penguins, Polka Dots & Tons Of Fun,
Miss Lauren Harper Is Turning ONE”

I cannot believe it… my little girl is turning ONE! Yikes, she is growing fast! So as a crazy creative mama of course I had to throw a fun party for her. Since her birthday is so close to Christmas I wanted to do a winter theme rather than Christmas, so I decided on Penguins & Polka Dots!
Here’s my not-so-little girl Lauren, I like to call her Lo. We are celebrating her birthday TODAY!
…and here is the wreath I made for her birthday party!
This literally was a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants project.
When you see something that inspires you, don’t sit on the idea, just GO WITH IT!
…here is the original inspiration…
A super duper cute snowman wreath by PinkPaislee.
For Lo’s wreath I cut a variety of different size strips of paper using a few different patterned papers. Most of the papers came form the Echo Park Summer Days Paper Collection Kit.
For the base of the wreath I used a single wood embroidery hoop. I folded each strip over the hoop and using a tape runner, sealed the paper together. Then using my scissors I cut out the pennant shapes on the end of each strip.
I did not do all of the pennants the same with or length. I wanted a little bit of character and dimension to the wreath. I also layered and overlapped some of the pennants.
~Imperfections sometimes add just the perfect touch~
I made the penguin using my beloved Cricut Expression Machine and the must-have Cricut Create A Critter Cartridge! …a little bit of polka dots here and a bit of sparkle there…
The trees were cut out from the Cricut Holiday Cakes Cartridge.
(GASP! yes, I did just say I used a CAKE Cartridge for paper crafting- I just happen to love the simple and clean-cut images on the cake cartridges, and truly feel that the cake cartridges are way over looked in the paper crafting world, would you agree?)
To adhere my die cut trees and penguin I used the Megan Elizabeth foam adhesive sheet from her adhesive bundle. I love how think it is and you can cut it to any size you need!
Well that’s all for today,
I will sure to have more birthday fun to share soon so STAY TUNED!
