If you love giving thoughtful, handmade gifts - or just want to make your home feel a little more “you” - personalizing a store-bought candle is such a fun and easy project. Making your own custom label lets you turn an ordinary candle into a gift for a friend, a stylish addition to your décor, or even a branded touch if you sell handmade items. Plus, it’s a great way to use your Cricut machine and printable sticker paper to create something truly unique.
Start by removing the existing label from your purchased candle. You can usually peel it off, but if it leaves behind any sticky residue, a little rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone will clean it right up. You want a smooth, clean surface so your new label sticks nicely.

Open Cricut Design Space and create your design. You can include your own text, patterns, clip art, or even photos. Think about what fits the vibe - something elegant, rustic, or maybe seasonal.

Once you’re happy with your design, follow the on-screen prompts to print it on Cricut Printable Sticker Paper or Printable Vinyl using your home printer. Choose clear or white material depending on the look you’re going for.

After printing, place the sheet on a cutting mat and load it into your Cricut machine. Continue following the prompts in Design Space to cut out your sticker precisely around the edges.

Carefully peel the backing off your new sticker, then position it on your candle. Smooth it out from the center outward to avoid bubbles or wrinkles. That’s it - you’ve got a custom-labeled candle that looks polished, personal, and perfect for gifting or display.

Create a Matching Lid Label
Design a smaller, coordinating label for the candle lid. It’s an easy way to make your candle look professional and cohesive, especially if you’re gifting it or selling it. You could include a scent name, short quote, or even your logo for a branded touch.
Add a Custom Candle Topper or Tag
Instead of wrapping the jar, design a cardstock topper or hang tag that sits on or around the lid. You can cut a round cardstock topper with a printed message like “Enjoy!” or “Handmade with Love,” or create a small tag to tie around the top with ribbon or twine.
Design Coordinating Gift Packaging
Use your Cricut to create a full presentation - a small gift box for the candle. You can match the fonts and colors from your label design so everything feels like part of a set. Add ribbon, twine, or a bow for that perfect finishing touch.
