Rainbow Birthday Banner Using Cricut Scoring Stylus

Today, we’re making a rainbow birthday banner using a Cricut machine, and it’s honestly so easy and satisfying to put together. With just a few simple supplies — and a whole lot of color — you’ll have a handmade banner that’s perfect for adding a cheerful, personal touch to any party. Let’s jump in and get started!

Materials:

• Cardstock in rainbow colors
• White glue
• Cricut Scoring Stylus
• Cricut Maker or Explore Cutting Machine

Directions:

You can jump straight into this project in Cricut Design Space if you want! I’m using the DTC April Skies font and the cute rainbow graphic #M454FBE9D - both of which are available through Cricut Access.

First, pop the scoring stylus into Accessory Clamp A on your Cricut Maker or Explore series machine - that way, it can create the fold lines for you. Next, cut your paper into 8x8 inch squares. For the project, you’ll use the scoring stylus to add fold lines to these colorful squares of solid paper, making sure to mix and match different rainbow colors. Then, using even more assorted rainbow-colored paper, go ahead and cut out the clouds and the letters separately.

Take each sheet of your scored paper and start by fan folding it, back and forth along the score lines, like you're making an accordion. 

Once you’ve folded the whole sheet, fold the entire thing in half so the ends meet. Then, glue the two inner edges together - this will form a quarter-circle fan shape.

Keep using the white glue to attach the fans together, end to end. As you go, make sure to flip each new fan 180 degrees from the one before it - kind of like you’re alternating their directions - so you end up creating a long, flowing banner shape.

Take each letter and glue it right onto the front of a cloud shape. Once all your letters are attached to the clouds, start gluing the clouds onto the front of your fan-folded banner. Space them out evenly so the whole design looks nice and balanced.

Now your colorful rainbow birthday banner is ready to shine! It’s such a fun, cheerful project, and it really comes together beautifully with just some paper, glue, and a little Cricut magic. Hang it up for your party and watch it bring the whole room to life!
