Create Design

You can create your own cut design using Cricut Design Space or directly access this project. For my acrylic bookmarks, I’ve selected designs available through Cricut Access. These designs have been sized to fit the dimensions of my acrylic; you may need to edit of adapt the cut design for the particular acrylic bookmarks you purchase. The designs used are:

  • Just One More Chapter #M4B2A70B2 - This design features a whimsical and literary-themed phrase, perfect for book lovers.
  • Book Stack #M4C9D1B73 - This design showcases a visually appealing stack of books, adding a charming and organized look to the bookmarks.

Make the Project

Follow the prompts in Cricut Design Space to make the project. Cut the book stack from 5 different colors of Cricut Permanent Vinyl. I'm using these colors: Medium Yellow, Pink Blush, Mint, Light Purple, and Tangerine. Cut the phrase from Black Vinyl.

Weed the Vinyl

After cutting the vinyl designs, the next step is to weed the excess material from the vinyl sheets. Use your Cricut Weeding Tool Kit for this task. This kit includes a variety of tools designed to help you efficiently remove unwanted vinyl and leave behind only the desired design.

Transfer the Vinyl

To transfer the vinyl designs onto your bookmark, you will need to use Cricut Transfer Tape. This process involves moving the vinyl cuts from their backing sheets to the bookmark surface. You'll be layering vinyl parts on top of one another to build the colorful book stack in this order:

  • Black
  • Purple
  • Orange
  • Pink
  • Yellow
  • Mint

Carefully use the transfer tape to position each vinyl layer in the correct order, ensuring precise alignment and a seamless layered effect.

Add a Tassel

To attach the tassel to the hole at the top of the bookmark, use a larkshead knot:

  • Place the loop end of the tassel through the hole in the top of the bookmark.
  • Slip the tassel end through the loop and tighten the knot to secure it in place.

By following these steps, you'll make a one-of-a-kind acrylic bookmark that’s perfect for any book lover. Enjoy the crafting process and feel proud of the custom creation you’ve made. Happy crafting, and may your bookmarks always lead to exciting new reading adventures!
