Easter Wreath Using Cricut Chipboard

Spring is here, and it’s the perfect time to add a little handmade charm to your home! Today, I’m going to show you how to create an adorable Easter wreath with a cute bunny centerpiece. It’s fun, festive, and a craft that’s surprisingly easy to put together - even if you’re not a seasoned crafter. Let’s get started!

Materials:

• Square wire wreath form (2)
• Dried moss
• Decorative Easter eggs (sized to fit inside the metal wreath frame)
• Additional wreath embellishments such as foam carrots
• Fabric bow and ribbon hanger
• Cricut Chipboard
• Cricut StrongGrip Cutting Mat
• Cricut Maker with Knife Blade

Directions:

Head over to Cricut Design Space to start creating the centerpiece for your wreath. Browse through Cricut Access and pick out your favorite picket fence design along with a "bunny butt" graphic. Once you’ve selected them, adjust the size of the fence so it’s just a little larger than the opening of your wreath, and then scale the bunny to match so it looks proportional and balanced. If you prefer, you can also skip the bunny in Design Space and just use a cute bunny figure from your local craft store to complete the look.

Go ahead and make the project, cutting out the fence and bunny shapes from Cricut chipboard.

Tips for Cutting Chipboard

1. Secure the Chipboard - Place your chipboard sheet onto a StrongGrip mat and use painter’s tape or masking tape to tape down all four edges. This prevents the chipboard from moving around while the machine is cutting, which is especially important for thicker materials.

2. Select the Correct Material Settings - In Cricut Design Space, make sure you choose the right chipboard thickness - either 1.5mm or 2mm - so the machine uses the appropriate cutting pressure and passes.

3. Monitor the Cut - Keep an eye on your project as it cuts. Chipboard is thicker than paper, so sometimes the design might not cut all the way through on the initial passes. If that happens, use the “Cut More” option in Design Space to let the machine make additional passes.

4. Remove Carefully - Once the cutting is finished, don’t pull the chipboard off the mat too quickly. Instead, gently peel the mat away from the chipboard to avoid bending or warping your pieces.

Start by painting the fence posts and the bunny with white acrylic craft paint. Make sure to cover all the surfaces evenly, and then set them aside to dry completely. Once the paint is dry, give your bunny a cute, fluffy tail by gluing a cotton ball onto its backside.

If your design ended up with multiple pieces, go ahead and assemble the fence posts to create the picket fence background for the center of your wreath. Use hot glue to attach the pieces together, making sure everything lines up neatly.

Start by attaching the picket fence to the back of one of your square wreath wire forms. Once that’s in place, fill the base with moss and arrange your decorative eggs on top.

Then, take the second wire form and place it over the first, creating a “sandwich” with the moss and eggs in the middle. Use zip ties or twist ties to secure the two wire forms together, making sure everything stays snug and in place. This layered setup gives your wreath dimension and keeps all the decorations secure.

Next, use hot glue to attach the bunny right in front of the picket fence, making it the focal point of your wreath. Once the bunny is secure, have fun adding some extra Easter flair - glue on foam carrots, little flowers, or any other festive accents you like.

Finish off your wreath by adding a bow at the top using hot glue - choose a ribbon that matches or complements your decorations for a cohesive look.

Then, take some of the same ribbon (or a coordinating one) and create a simple hanger so you can easily display your wreath on a door or wall. Enjoy!
