Football Party Banner Using Cricut

If you’re planning a football-themed party or just want to show a little team spirit, this DIY pennant banner is the perfect project! It’s fun, customizable, and easy to make with your Cricut. 

Materials:

• Felt or cardstock for the pennant base in brown, green, white and black
• Ribbon for hanging, about 3 yards
• Cricut Iron-on in white
• Cricut Tool Kit
• Cricut Heat Press Machine
• Cricut Heat Mat
• Cricut Cutting Machine

Directions:

This project includes a few fun pennant shapes, including Alphabet Football Pennants from the American Football Banner Image Set. I’m using them to spell out a name for a birthday party banner, but you could just as easily use them to create a spirited cheer or message for your favorite football team. There’s plenty of room to get creative with how you personalize it!

Start by cutting the base of each letter pennant from brown felt or cardstock - whichever material you prefer. Next, cut the middle layer of the pennant from green felt or cardstock to create that classic football field look.

To assemble them, simply glue the green layer on top of the brown base. If you're working with felt and want a cleaner finish, you can also use iron-on fusible webbing, which you can find at most fabric or craft stores. It helps everything stay securely in place and gives a nice, smooth look.

For the 'sports play' pennant, start by cutting the base layer from white felt or cardstock. Then, cut the middle layer from black felt to give it that chalkboard-style playbook look. Once you’ve got your pieces cut out, attach the black layer on top of the white base. Again, you can use craft glue for a quick and easy option, or if you're working with felt and want a more polished finish, try using iron-on fusible webbing.

Cut the top layer for each pennant from white Cricut Iron-on.

Once you’ve cut the Iron-on, go ahead and weed out the excess vinyl using your favorite weeding tools - just take your time with the small details to keep everything neat.

Then, use your Cricut EasyPress heat press machine to transfer the design onto the felt pennants. Be sure to follow the recommended heat and time settings for the materials you’re using from the Cricut Heat Guide or Cricut Heat App.

Once all your pennants are ready, string them onto a ribbon, twine, or even some sporty-looking cord to create a fun banner. 

Then just hang it up and enjoy at your next football-themed party or tailgate! Whether you’re decorating for a birthday, game day, or just showing team spirit, it’s a great way to add a personal, festive touch.
