Kids Lego Storage Bin Decals Using Cricut Vinyl

Legos are one of those toys that are so worth it. They’re creative, educational, and honestly one of the few things kids can play with for a long time without getting bored. But… they also have a special talent for ending up everywhere. Under the couch. In the hallway. You get the picture.

One of my favorite ways to keep Lego chaos under control is by using clear plastic stacking drawers and adding colorful vinyl labels to the front. The drawers make it easy to sort pieces, and the labels make it easy for kids (and adults!) to actually put things back where they belong.

Directions:

Step 1: Create Your Labels in Cricut Design Space

First things first - open up Cricut Design Space and start a new project.

Choose a font you like (something simple and easy to read is best here), and type out your color names. Think:
Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, White, Black, Orange, Purple - whatever colors you use most.

You can keep them all the same style or make it fun by mixing fonts, adding outlines, or even throwing in little shapes like stars or bricks. Just remember: the goal is quick and easy visibility.

Once your labels are ready, size them to fit the front of your drawers. A good tip is to measure one drawer front and use that measurement to keep everything consistent.

Step 2: Cut Each Label in Its Matching Vinyl Color

When you’re ready, click Make It and follow the prompts in Design Space. Cut each color name in the matching vinyl color. Load your vinyl onto your cutting mat (or use a Smart Material if you have one) and let your Cricut do its thing.

Step 3: Weed Your Vinyl Labels

After cutting, use your weeder tool to remove the excess vinyl that isn’t part of your design. Once the extra vinyl is gone, your labels should be ready to transfer.

Step 4: Stick the Labels onto the Drawer Fronts

Cut a piece of Cricut Transfer Tape slightly larger than the label.

Press it down on top of your vinyl, then use a scraper tool to burnish it really well. This helps make sure all the vinyl sticks to the tape instead of staying behind on the backing sheet. Then gently peel the backing off, leaving your label stuck to the transfer tape.

Line up each label on the front of a clear plastic drawer and press it down. Burnish it again so it sticks smoothly, then carefully peel away the transfer tape.

Repeat for all your drawers - and before you know it, you’ll have a bright, easy-to-use Lego storage system that actually looks nice sitting out.

The best part about organizing Legos this way is that it doesn’t require kids to read tiny labels or guess what goes where. The setup is super visual and straightforward. When everything has a clearly marked home, cleanup becomes easier, faster, and way less frustrating for everyone. Plus, the clear drawers make it simple to see what you have without dumping out an entire bin just to find two pieces.

Do More: More Cricut Label Projects to Organize Everything

If you loved making Lego drawer labels, you’re going to have way too much fun with this part… because once you start labeling things, it’s hard to stop. 😄 The good news is: labels make your home look more put-together and they save time because everything has a clear “home.”

Here are a few more Cricut label projects that are perfect for adding order (and a little color!) to everyday chaos:

Kitchen Labels (Pantry + Containers)

Kitchen labels are one of the quickest ways to make your pantry and cabinets feel instantly organized. Whether you’re storing snacks, baking supplies, spices, or dry goods, a simple vinyl label turns random containers into a system that’s easy to keep up with.

School Supplies Labels

If you’ve ever bought school supplies and then watched them slowly disappear into the void… you’re not alone. Labeling school items helps keep things from getting lost (and helps them come back home if they do!). These are especially handy for kids who share supplies in the classroom or have similar items to their siblings.

Kids Water Bottle Labels

Water bottles are another thing that seem to multiply and get mixed up constantly - at school, sports, daycare, you name it. Cricut labels make it easy for kids to spot their bottle fast, and they look so cute too.
